In the hidden gears and steam choked tunnels beneath every major city of Amia, a secret empire thrives. The rats once dismissed as vermin have mastered steampunk engineering far beyond anything the surface-dwellers can imagine. Tiny brass engines, clockwork armor, and miniature steam-bikes let them move like ghosts through the walls, pipes, and shadows. Among them, none is more feared or respected than Captain Sprocket Gearwhisker. The Rat That Outruns Legends The castle loomed above the rocky ridge like a sleeping giant, but Captain Sprocket wasn’t impressed. He revved the tiny brass engine of his steam-bike, the gears clicking and hissing like an angry kettle. Goggles down, leather coat flapping, he leaned forward and shot forward in a puff of white steam, weaving between jagged stones with impossible precision. Behind him, the castle guards were already shouting. They had no idea the “tiny rat on a toy bike” they’d spotted was actually the most wanted saboteur in three kingdoms. In his saddlebags rattled the crown jewels he’d just lifted from the duke’s private vault using nothing but a clockwork grappling hook and a miniature drill the size of a thimble. A crossbow bolt whistled past his ear. Sprocket grinned, sharp teeth flashing, and twisted the throttle. The bike roared, belching steam as he launched off a boulder, soaring through the air for a glorious second before landing on the narrow ledge that led straight into the castle’s forgotten drainage tunnels. “Too slow, tall folk!” he shouted over his shoulder, voice tiny but full of swagger. The guards could only watch in disbelief as the rat vanished into the darkness, engine echoing like distant thunder. In Amia, the rats don’t just survive in the cities. They run them from the shadows, one tiny gear at a time.
